20% Project #3

Hello, again this is my third week of learning Italian. This week was amazing and I was able to accomplish learning saying like “There’s the theatre.” and “Where is the store.” For example how you would say that is “ Dov’è il negozio?”and “ C’è il teatro.” Also I remebered to bring my earbuds, so I was not distracted. I did not have any struggles this week. One adjustment I had this week was changing my calender to playing duolingo every friday from know on. Because I dont think I will ever look at the Easy Italian Saying book. Duolingo is just so much better and more helpful. Next time I will pick up at Section 1 , Unit 2, lesson 3. I will possibly try reading the easy italian sayings book but duolingo has taught me a lot. I am making lots of progress! I have already met my goal. Thank you! I hope you enjoy reading my blogs.

My Special Space

My favorite room in my house is my living room. In my living room there is a big gray couch in the middle of the room. Behind my couch is where my rabbits live and the right wall isn’t a wall it is a slider to the outside patio. The front wall is where the tv is. This is my favorite room because this is where I have the most fun when we throw parties because everyone is happy. Another reason why it is my favorite place is because that is where we watch movies as a family. One last reason is, on the weekends when I have friends over we watch movies and play games in the living room.

20% Project Week 2

Hi, my name is Mia, and for my 20% project I am learning Italian. This week was amazing and I was able to accomplish learning sayings such as “ He is my brother.” She is my mother.” and “No, she speaks Italian.” One adjustment I made was that I had to change my schedule from starting Easy Italian Sayings to starting my second unit in duolingo. I did this because the room was too loud for me to concentrate on reading, so I did duolingo instead but it is just as good as reading. I had no struggles during this week’s work time on duolingo. I left off on section 1, unit 2. Next week I will be starting the Easy Italian Sayings book and hopefully learn something new that I can share in my next blog. I have had so much fun learning Italian so far. Can’t wait for next week!

My Fantastic Spring Break

Over my spring break I went to Italy. Specifically Rome, Italy, the plane ride was so long it took my family and me eleven hours to get there. The first day which was the day after we arrived we went to the Colosseum. We woke up bright and early at six o’clock to head downstairs to breakfast. They had everything and my plate was filled to the brim with delicious looking food. On the left I had bright yellow pineapple and juicy green grapes. For the right I had fluffy eggs and crispy bacon. But on the bottom were golden brown cream filled croissants. After we finished we headed out to see the colosseum. It takes you twenty one minutes to walk from my hotel to the colosseum. Along the way we saw many churches, I drank from a nasone, and we visited the Trevi fountain. A nasone is a water fountain that we created because of all the aqueducts that the Roman’s built. The colosseum was beautiful and during our tour we got to walk below the hypogeum. They added walkways early in the colosseum existence after they decided to stop having water battles. I learned so much from my trip, it was lots of fun.

Three Special People

There are so many people I would invite to dinner, but these are my top three: Kayden, Dev, and Lucy. First I chose Kayden because she is so kind to me and always makes me smile. My second choice is Dev. I chose Dev because she is my best friend and no matter what we are doing she finds a way to make it fun and we always get along. For my final person I have chosen Lucy. I chose Lucy because she always makes me laugh and she comforts me when I am sad. These aren’t reason why they would be good people to go to a restaurant with, they are people that make me happy. That is why I choose them.

20% Project Week One

I started working on my 20% project, my topic is learning Italian. I accomplished learning how to order in a cafe and how to introduce myself. Such as “ Hello, may I have a coffee, with milk?” “ A coffee with sugar please?” “My name is, Mia.” And I learned that croissant is Cornétto in Italian.I struggled staying focused because I didn’t have any earbuds. So next Friday I will remember to bring earbuds. I needed to add to my calendar to practice on Saturday because I didn’t finish in class. I left off in the middle of level five. So tomorrow I will reach my goal set for today by reaching level seven. I left off half way into level five but sadly had to cut it short because the period ended. I am so glad I chose Italian because so far it had been so fun! Thank you for reading!

Rad Reading-March

This month I read Love and Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch.

This book is about a girl named Carolina who goes to live with her dad, Howard, in Florence, Italy. Lina and her dad live on a World War II cemetery. She goes to parties and visits famous statues with her new friends. Her dad’s friend, Sonia, gives her a journal that belonged to her mom when she was pregnant with Lina. She goes on an adventure with her friend, Lorenzo, to figure out why she left Florence and Howard to live in Seattle with her mom.

There are many reasons why I think this book is good. One reason is the shocking twists and dramatic relationships Lina creates. For example, in the beginning Lina thinks living with Howard is only for a couple of months, but overtime she realizes how much she means to him and wonders what her mom was so afraid of all this time. Another reason why I like this book is because of how determined Lina is. When she builds up the courage to actually read the journal, she believes that her mom is hiding someone from her, so Lina invites Lorenzo on this crazy adventure to figure out who it is. One last reason why is because of how detailed her descriptions are. When Howard brings Lina to his favorite pizza place the description of the pizza makes my mouth water.

My favorite character from the book is Lina. Lina is my favorite because she is confident. One quote to prove she is confident is “I couldn’t let you beat me. It’s my competitive nature.” Lina’s faith in herself and her belief that she can accomplish anything she wants to is something I admire. She has been through a lot in her life, such as losing her mom, growing up without her dad, and losing her best friend. After everything she stays positive and perseveres.

My favorite quote from this book is ‘Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.’ This quote is meaningful to me because it reminds me that once something ends it doesn’t mean it will never come back. People often give up on things they aren’t hopeful about but when people keep their hope then there is a chance for a new beginning. There can be false hope but at least it is still hope.

My Dream Job

My dream job is a photographer. I want to be a photographer because I get to travel and visit historic places. Another reason why I want to be a photographer is because I am excellent at taking pictures, also because I would meet famous celebrity’s. For my last reason I would want to be a photographer is because I would be able to take my family on my trips and do my job while spending time with them. This is because some people don’t have time to spend with their family because of their job so being available to spend time with them and go on vacation is amazing. One additional reason I would want to be a photographer is because I would take pictures of exotic animals that are rarely seen making my work unique and valuable. This is why for my dream job I would want to be a photographer!

Rad Reading-February

This month I read Genuine Fraud by E. Lockhart.

Imogen is a young women and a college dropout who lives in a hotel in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. She spends her days trying to make friends, tanning at the beach, and listening to K-pop. But it’s not Imogen who is staying in Cabo San Lucas making friends and listening to K-pop, it’s Jule, Imogens best friend pretending to be her. Imogen committed suicide and Jule decided to take over her identity. Before Imogen’s death she ran away from home to her mansion on Martha’s Vineyard she runs from her responsibilities and conflict. Her friends told her this wasn’t the way to solve problems or depression but Imogen didn’t care. Jule idolized Imogen she loved her like a sister and only wanted them to be together and happy. But soon Jule realizes that Imogen isn’t who everyone thinks she is.

This is a great book. You should read this book because of its surprising twist and complex ending. Jule is an easy character to like because of her kind gestures but she can be jealous from time to time. Imogen, on the other hand, is harder to understand because of her mood swings and confusing actions. Overall this book shows how much two people can react over the ‘other’s actions. It will surprise you what shocking situations Jule and Imogen get themselves stuck in!

My favorite character is Jule West-Williams because she is athletic and clever. One piece of evidence that proves she is clever is “Every place has rules. What you do when you come into a new place is, you figure them out.” This explains Jule is clever because she takes notice of her surroundings and adapts her behavior.

My favorite quote from this book is “Jule has become the kind of woman it would be a great mistake to underestimate.” This quote is meaningful to me because it is very inspirational. It shows how much Jule has evolved from being the lonely little girl that lost her parents and never recovered. It shows how she believed that she could become a better version of herself such as getting stronger and more independent. This is why this quote sticks out to me.

If I Was Invisible

I would love to be invisible for a day because of all the fun stuff I would do. First I would take my family to Disneyland. I would go there because last time I had so much fun and they would only have to pay for five tickets instead of six. The next thing that I would do is go to my friend Taylor’s house and all my other friends would be there too. They would be invisible also, and we would get some blankets and pillows and we would sleep in Taylor’s trampoline. It would be so fun sleeping under the stars and we wouldn’t get bug bites because they can’t see us. Finally, the last thing that I would do while I am invisible is go to Paris. Me and my family wouldn’t have to pay for the plain ticket because they couldn’t see us. We would visit all these restaurants and the Eiffel Tower. Once it becomes night time we would find a hotel and use one of the rooms that hasn’t been booked yet. We would do all these fun things for completely free! This is why I would love being invisible for the day!
